Description gunix 2005-12-03 07:34:48 UTC
I have gcc 3.3.6 installed, and now
emerge -uDpv tetex shows that it wishes to upgrade gcc to 3.4.4. but it shows
it as a new package, not an upgrade. Why? Two compilers, doesn't sound like a
good idea...

 emerge -uDpv tetex

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Notice the S in summary. It means SLOT and multiple compilers IS a good idea
since we have gcc-config. :-)
Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-03 08:07:34 UTC
INVALID bug, gcc is slotted. Use gcc-config to switch to the new version.
