Description Sophie Hamilton 2005-12-01 14:22:04 UTC
It seems that app-office/openoffice-bin-2.0.0 is installed in /usr and not in
/opt. My understanding was that binary-only programs should be installed in /opt
and not in /usr. If this has changed, my apologies for wasting your time with
this 'bug' (Although I couldn't find any information on the site that goes
against this on a casual glance.)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge openoffice-bin

Actual Results:
app-office/openoffice-bin-2.0.0 is installed in /usr (mainly /usr/lib/openoffice)

Expected Results:
It should presumably have been installed somewhere in /opt.

You are basically right, the problem is, we have to have openoffice and
openoffice-bin in the same place, otherwise the user install (and some
applications depending on OOo) would break when changing between them. So the
current solution might not be perfect, but still the best there is atm.
