I just found out that the overlap messages are issued when X starts. Before that everything seems ok (no errors/warnings). Before X is started /proc/mtrr looks like this: reg00: base=0x00000000 ( 0MB), size= 512MB: write-back, count=1 reg01: base=0xe0000000 (3584MB), size= 32MB: write-combining, count=2 reg02: base=0xd0000000 (3328MB), size= 128MB: write-combining, count=1 In future, please use the attachment feature to post large files. Is this reproducible on the latest development kernel? (currently vanilla-sources-2.6.15_rc2) Hi Daniel! Okidoki, will do. I tried 2.6.15_rc2 and it's still there. mtrr: 0xd0000000,0x10000000 overlaps existing 0xd0000000,0x8000000 mtrr: 0xd0000000,0x10000000 overlaps existing 0xd0000000,0x8000000 mtrr: 0xd0000000,0x10000000 overlaps existing 0xd0000000,0x8000000 Please add your experiences to http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5319 Sebastian, is this still an issue with the latest kernel (2.6.21 or newer)? Hello Daniel, thanks for the reminder. No, the problem has been solved in 2.6.20. All's good now (again). Please close. Regards Sebastian Ok, thanks for the update |
