The ebuild states: einfo "To start using the vmware-tools, please run the following:" einfo einfo " /usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl" einfo " rc-update add vmware-linux-tools default" einfo " /etc/init.d/vmware-linux-tools start" but when doing that I get: stimpy root # /usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl sh: line 1: /tmp/vmware-tools: No such file or directory Making sure services for VMware Tools are stopped. Unable to stop services for VMware Tools Execution aborted. I've discovered that there is a Wiki post that seems to indicate that there is more to the process than just the above: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_Gentoo_on_VMware_in_Windows_NT/2K/XP Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. unmask app-emulation/vmware-linux-tools-5.0.0 2. emerge emerge app-emulation/vmware-linux-tools 3. Follow the post-install instructions.
