Did you update alsa-lib, too? Did you remove alsa support from in-kernel? I had the same problem. My sources kernel sources are alsa-compatible since alsa and friends are build as modules. My solution for the problem: 1) emerge alsa-driver alsa-lib alsa-headers The latter were not a available a few days ago. 2) depmod -a modprobe was always looking for the wrong modules. Maybe it should be included in the alsa-driver ebuild? 3) alsamixer Unmute the master and pcm channels (set volume to at least 50 and press "M"). Cheers, *th We're *not* going to support if you build alsa as module in-kernel and then emerge alsa-driver. To use alsa-driver, you should enable only sound card support and *disable* alsa in kernel. Did you remove alsa support from in-kernel? > I don't emerge alsa-lib directly but (dependency ?) I got alsa-lib-1.0.10_rc2 I don't have any alsa support in my kernel # # Sound # CONFIG_SOUND=m # # Advanced Linux Sound Architecture # # CONFIG_SND is not set I had the same problem and I did the following steps to get it (partially) working: 1. Boot up normal 2. /etc/init.d/alsasound stop 3. rc-update del alsasound 4. rm /etc/asound.state 4. power off the computer 5. boot up again 6. /etc/init.d/alsasound start 7. unmute soundcard As for now xmms, kde-sounds and psi sounds are working, skype seems to open the device but you can't hear anything. Seems to be solved by alsa team in 1.0.10_rc3 Fixed by upstream then. |
