iTunes introduced a new way to remember columns and sort order of shared music 
(mt-daapd). So when iTunes 5.x/6.x browse mt-daapd shares, the user's prefs 
are forgotten each time iTunes launches.

There is a patch listed in this thread that updates mt-daapd to use this new 
method.
