Description Riyad Kalla 2002-11-22 15:49:35 UTC
I have tried to install Gentoo (1.4rc Live CD and 1.2 boot cd) on a PowerEdge
2600. The default SCSI controller
is the LSI MPT Ultra 160 controller (driver: mptlinux) which is not supported
which makes it impossible for me to continue
(another problem being that the NIC, Intel gigabit, is not supported either).

This driver is freely available from Intel's site in source format and could
easily be compiled and added as a module
to the 1.4 install CD.

The MPT LSI driver: ftp://ftp.lsil.com/HostAdapterDrivers/linux/Fusion-MPT/2.02/

I emailed this request to the gentoo-dev list a month ago, and was told it was
forwarded to the core developer list for
approval, but never heard back.

Please let me know what you decide. It seems fairly easy to handle, but I could
be wrong.

Best,
Riyad Kalla

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
