sys-power/apcupsd-3.10.18-r1 works great for me for almost 2 months. 
Uptime of server it's installed on is near 3 month and I had no problems with
apcupsd-3.10.18-r1

Maybe it should be marked as 'stable' on ~amd64 soon... Ofcorse, if others don't
