Why is dovecot masked off? I'd also like to know the reason for masking dovecot 1.0 versions. The author recommends 1.0alpha releases over any previous 0.99 release. If there are any Gentoo specific issues, please note them here - it may result in patch submissions... Speaking from personal experience - alpha2 was unstable and alpha3 had memory issues. alpha4 was fine for me, but not on amd64 and was never put into portage (not sure if this was reason why). alpha5 is now in portage 0.99 is still the Gentoo stable version as there have been issues with every alpha version of dovecot shipped to date. Hopefully that will change with alpha5 :) |
