you need to use gnome 2.12 with those versions Thank you for your comments. I emerged gnome-2.12.0 yestoday, and tried to probe a little bit. The problem was just as before. In fact I tried many times of the gnome-2.12 and related packages, but the problem persisted as before. I'll be very grateful if somebody could tell me his/her seccessful stories about installation of gnome-2.12 or using gtk+-2.8.x on gentoo ppc64 linux. Hi, have you also tried GTK+ 2.8.7? Did the problem persist? I just tried gtk+-2.8.8, the problem was same as before. I think the problem may have something to do Xorg rendering functions. I was wrong. I found the problem had something to do with fonts.conf and local.conf files. By trying different configurations finally I corrected them, and gtk+-2.8.x worked. I emerged gnome-2.12.0 on my ppc64, and it worked even though there was a problem concerning with desktop backgrounds(when having a wall paper). good to hear it worked out for you. |
