anyone from sparc team reproduce? Yes, that's the reason for the downgrade (see the Changelog). It seems to be the case on all sparc systems. (We went sparc->~sparc because of this problem.) From the Changelog: ================================== 19 Oct 2005; Ferris McCormick <fmccor@gentoo.org> xchat-2.4.5.ebuild: Reverting to ~sparc for more testing. On a few systems, under as yet unknown context, xchat-2.4.5 generates a Bus Error when it tries to connect. Details not yet known. ================================== *** Bug 112676 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** xchat-2.6.0 works fine, so either downgrade to 2.4.3 or use the new one. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=330466 This fixes the problem on PPC. Debian patch that fix0rs it
Here's the debian patch that fixes the issue, tested at least for sparc.
revbumped into 2.4.5-r1 with swegener's ok. I've marked 2.4.5 -ppc. 2.4.5-r1 does fix the problem on ppc as well. sparc stabled 2.4.5-r1 Marked ppc stable. fixed on sparc and on ppc, thus fixed and closed. |
