I have just finished emerging a complete upgrade of KDE 3.3 to 3.4.  I am trying
to change the default font used in the superuser terminal konsole.  I can
successfully change the konsole font to a custom setting, but when I click on
"save as default" the settings are not persistent -- once the konsole is closed,
the settings are lost.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open konsole
2. change font to "custom" setting
3. Save as Default

Actual Results:  
settings are not persistent;  the revert to the default settings when a
subsequent konsole is opened.

Expected Results:  
persistence of settings

Probably this is not Gentoo specific, you should report it at 
http://bugs.kde.org. 
 
I suggest also to take a look here first: 
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89926 
and to try with a new user (or by removing ~/.kde/share/config/konsolerc) as 
this could be the effect of some corruption of the configuration file...
