I upgraded from baselayout-1.12.0_pre8-r2 to baselayout-1.12.0_pre9 and
/etc/init.d/net.eth1 says
* Starting eth1
*     For iproute2 support, emerge sys-apps/iproute2

But my /etc/conf.d/net looks like this :
modules=( "ifconfig" )
config_eth1=( "192.168.1.2/24" )
...

-> I don't want iproute
(I hope it's not my fault ^^)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start

Actual Results:  
* Starting eth1
*     For iproute2 support, emerge sys-apps/iproute2

Expected Results:  
Bringing up the interface as expected... with ifconfig
