I have the same setup as you - and had the same problem. Re-emerging dev-python/pyxml solved the problem. I cannot tell you why exactly, but I remember python has been upgraded recently, so my guess is that pyxml should be, but was not, recompiled upon upgrading python. python-updater needs to be run when doing python updates Re-emerging dev-python/pyxml solved the problem also on my pc. Python-updater don't solve the problem. Don't know why. I added Gnome 2.12 to my /etc/portage/package.unmask and I ran into the same problem. I re-emerged dev-python/pyxml and it compiled fine This bug report helped me to get past this problem. Re-emergin
dev-python/pyxml-0.8.4 fixed the problem.
