oh yea, almost forgot: $ emerge --version Portage 2.0.44 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2, glibc-2.2.5-r7) evan teran could you also post `emerge info` please surely :) please note that while gtk/gtk2 are disabled, i enabled them when i want gtk functionality in programs in which it is an option. # emerge info Portage 2.0.44 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2, glibc-2.2.5-r7) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.19 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Mobile CPU 1.80GHz USE="x86 oss avi crypt gif jpeg libg++ libwww mikmod mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png qtmt quicktime xmms xv zlib gtkhtml gdbm berkdb slang readline arts bonobo svga ggi guile tcpd pam ssl esd imlib motif opengl mozilla cdr pcmcia -X -gnome -gtk -gtk2 kde -qt -3dnow cups mmx sse xml2 apm pnp mysql -tcltk sdl oggvorbis encode -snmp spell truetype java perl python ruby innodb samba gpm" ARCH="x86" COMPILER="gcc3" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -mmmx -msse -msse2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -falign-functions=4" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -mmmx -msse -msse2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -falign-functions=4" ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" MAKEOPTS="-j2" JDK_HOME="" JAVA_HOME="/opt/blackdown-jre-1.3.1" AUTOCLEAN="yes" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" I can't duplicate the problem with what you're told me. is there any more information you could use? I'm not sure if the problem persists still...i'll try it again when i am back on my laptop |
ok, i was trying to update many of my gtk apps to use gtk2 since i just noticed this new use flag. anyway, i tried doing an "emerge -pe world" to see if anything still needed the old gtk files and i got this: emerge: all ebuilds that could satisfy ">=gnome-extra/gal-0.19" (from ebuild / gnome-extra/gtkhtml-1.0.4 merge) have been masked. so naturally i checked out package.mask and saw it was not there: so i checked the ebuilds, and this is what i found... gal-0.21 has KEYWORDS="~x86 ~ppc ~sparc ~sparc64" (masked) gal-0.20 has KEYWORDS="x86 ppc sparc sparc64" (not masked) however it seems that portage is viewing all versions of gal as masked, not just 0.21.. i verified this by doing: "emerge -s ^gal$" which returns this: * gnome-extra/gal [ Masked ] Latest version available: 0.21 Latest version installed: 0.20 Size of downloaded files: 964 kB Homepage: http://www.gnome.org/ Description: The Gnome Application Libraries i hope this isnt the desired functionality (if it is, i'll live with it, but it is ... less than intuative ;)). evan teran
