Description Ben 2005-10-08 10:22:42 UTC
After emerging alsa-drivers and alsa-utils, I started seeing errors like this in
my syslog:

Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xe0 on isa0060/serio).
Use 'setkeycodes e060 <keycode>' to make it known.

... and having dropped keys as a result. I had seen this on a prior gentoo
install and hadn't figured it out. But this time, I had just installed
alsa-drivers and alsa-utils. So, I unmerged those packages and have been using
my system for a week without any keyboard errors. I therefore suspect that
alsa-drivers and/or alsa-utils interferes with the keyboard drivers somehow.

Oops... I forgot I was going to include this url from the forums where people
are trying to figure out this error:

Ahn crap... nevermind..... I'm getting the "Unknown keycode pressed" errors
again... and I still don't have alsa installed. Sorry if I sent anyone looking
into a red herring.

Sigh.
