Bug 107839 – Files created from nautilus context menu disappear from desktop

In nautilus-2.12.0, I create a file on the desktop from the context menu (Create
Document->Empty file).  I can rename it or not, enter content into it or leave
it empty, change permissions or leave them alone, but at some point within a few
minutes the file will disappear from the desktop.  Sometimes it reappears by
itself, but clicking on the desktop and hitting Ctrl-R will cause it to
reappear.  After it disappears it is not visible in the Places->Desktop view
either (reloading that also brings it back).  If I move the file to any other
folder and move it back to the desktop it no longer disappears.

I spoke too soon about the workaround of copying the files.  I just had two of
the files that were copied to/from another folder disappear, while a third,
empty file remained behind.  Reloading brought them back.

I'm going to say this one is fixed by Gnome 2.12.1, but I don't know which of
the Gnome packages I emerged today took care of it.  It's been several hours and
the aforementioned files have not disappeared.

seems like a local problem, please re-open if its not fixed.
