Bug 107682 – New WXRuby branch into WxRuby2

WxRuby2 has been created for wxWindows (wxGTK) 2.6. For right now it is still in
CVS, but I was wondering if someone could make an ebuild for testing purposes.

I'm sorry. I don't think we have enough man-power for that. Preview version 0.0.36 has been out since Oct 2. Hope they will release an official version soon.

"wxRuby2 is the current development version. The most recent release is 0.0.39, available from [Rubyforge]. It supports almost all the widgets and features from wxWidgets 2.6.3 API. It's very usable for personal projects and prototyping; it's not quite ready for production use yet, though.

wxRuby 0.6.0 was the last stable release of the old series, but is now surpassed by wxruby2 in features and completeness."

We need to remove wxRuby from portage (bug #164148) ASAP.

There's 0.0.40 too now. It targets wxWidgets-2.8 so we should be good for the future. However I don't know if it works with 2.6, for which reason an interim older version might be useful to be added until 2.8 is in if it doesn't work.
I believe Ryan has removed the old wxruby by now..

Here's an ebuild for the wxruby2 stuff (which is now just wxruby again). It's a little hackish, but it works.

New ebuild for the new version of wxruby. Big advantage to this one -- it works with the latest swig.

Properly assigning this to maintainer-wanted since it is not in the tree yet. 

James: please note that we are trying to move away from the old ruby and gems eclasses. Have a look at ruby-fakegem instead.

Is there still any interest to get this into the tree? Please reply, otherwise the bug will be marked as WONTFIX in 30 days from now.

 2.0.1 September 9, 2009 seems to be the recent version according to rubygems
