  Drop the vesafb-tng and inotify patches again, use gentoo-sources or patch
  it yourself if you want these

You can obtain the latest vesafb-tng patch from under
http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd/genpatches/trunk/. This bug/request is most likely
going to end up as a WONTFIX; re-assigning to the maintainer in any case.

I've enquired further and, indeed, this patch is not going to make it back into
gentoo's ck-sources package for the forseeable future. I'm afraid you'll have to
patch it in yourself or roll your own ebuild in this case.
