Description Pierre AUSSAGUEL 2005-09-26 14:10:43 UTC
When the USB (Merlin Gerin Protection center 500 USB) cable is plugged in my
computer, the kernel will hang early in the boot process.
When the cable is removed, the computer boot normaly.
If the cable is pluged during the boot process (after kernel initialisation)
there is no problem
The UPS and UPS connection with nut works well in normal operation

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Power on computer, USB cable plugged
2. Chose the kernel (2.6.12-r10) in LILO

Actual Results:
Computer in frozen, need to reboot.

Expected Results:
Normal boot process

Motherboard : MSI K7N420 Pro (nforce1 Chipset)

Screenshot

Note that this screenshot is from a 2.6.12-r9 kernel since I use gensplash for
2.6.12-r10 and I dont see any error message (but the comuter is still frozen)
Comment 3 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-29 01:47:46 UTC
Is this reproducable in newer kernels (2.6.13, or even better,
vanilla-sources-2.6.14_rc2)?
Comment 4 Pierre AUSSAGUEL 2005-09-29 05:00:55 UTC
I will give a try to vanilla-sources-2.6.14_rc2 (I will download tonight cause I
have a slow rtc connection)
Comment 5 Pierre AUSSAGUEL 2005-10-02 10:39:52 UTC
It works with 2.6.14-rc2

(But I dont want to use neither vanilla sources ou unstable kernel)
Comment 6 Pierre AUSSAGUEL 2005-10-11 14:22:05 UTC
Dont work with gentoo-sources 2.6.13-r3
Comment 7 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-29 06:50:20 UTC
gentoo-sources-2.6.14 is now in portage
