Bug 107307

Summary: wine-20050725-r1 build uses all memory
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Ralph Hartley <hartley>
Component: Current packagesAssignee: Wine Maintainers <wine>
Status: RESOLVED INVALID
Severity: normal
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Ralph Hartley 2005-09-26 11:34:32 UTC
Memory usage expands until no swap space is left. System Monitor shows 249M of
user memory and 329M of swap, which used to be enough. Now it uses it all.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
emerge wine
Actual Results:
It outputs:

../../tools/winegcc/winegcc -B../../tools/winebuild -mconsole gui.o main.o
send.o util.o winetest.exe.dbg.o winetest.res -o winetest.exe.so -L../../dlls
-L../../dlls/comctl32 -L../../dlls/user32 -L../../dlls/gdi32
-L../../dlls/wsock32 -lcomctl32 -luser32 -lgdi32 -lwsock32 -L../../libs/wine
-lwine -L../../libs/port -lwine_port

then memory expands utill it is killed, or the machine grinds to a halt, with no
free memory or swap.

Comment 1 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-09-26 15:08:27 UTC
do all versions of wine do it or just this one ?
Comment 2 Ralph Hartley 2005-09-27 09:48:36 UTC
Just this one.

At least my previously installed version wine-20050111-r2 builds normally.
Comment 3 Ralph Hartley 2005-10-04 08:45:21 UTC
Apparently it really does use that much memory. Adding more swap space allowed
it to complete.
