By "text is corrupted," I mean that the actual text that should be displayed
isn't.  For example, instead of displaying a 'L' it displays a '*', instead of
an 'N' it displays a ',', instead of 'U' it's '3', etc.

This happens mostly in Gaim, but it is not specific to that.  I've had it in
Gnome menus, Nautilus dialogs, and other places.  Gaim is just where I see it
most, as I always have it open.  It is also very font specific.  It will display
a character wrong in one font, but not in another.

I'm running freetype-2.1.10 (I upgraded from 2.1.9-r1 to see if that would fix
the problem).

Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load any program that uses a font.
Actual Results:  
Some characters are sometimes displayed incorrectly.

Expected Results:  
The correct characters should be displayed.

In the non-smudged names, the '*' should be 'L' and the ',' should be 'N'.

Well, no one seems to have really noticed this bug or anything... but I figure
I'll add that I just noticed that it changes when I change the Font Rendering
option.  Switching back and forth between the options changes which characters
are being displayed properly.
