Hi all..
After updating to gnome-2.12 from a mix of portage , bmg-main overlay, gentopia
overlay , and my own ebuilds , I got bitten by a nasty bug. The volume (
partition ) icons no more appear in Computer:// in nautilus.
I did my homework..
I have searched the internet and found this :

https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7641

I have updated to dbus, HAL, and gnome-vfs from CVS.

As described in that bug if I kill the dbus daemon the icons suddenly appear.

If I remove the initial / from the device nodes in /etc/fstab the icons appear
but are not able to be mounted because of the wrong name ( dev/hda1 instead of
/dev/hda1 ).

As a last resort I rebuilt gnome-vfs without HAL support. The volumes configured
in /etc/fstab appeard and worked perfectly but I ofcourse lost the dbus - hal -
hotplug - gnome-volume-manager - pmount magic for removable drives. That is the
cdrom and my usb drive no longer appear in Computer.

I am using kernel 2.6.14-rc2-mm1 and udev 70. I use gamin and I compiled my
kernel with inotify support, and it works perfectly for showing other icons on
the desktop and removing them when the files are deleted.

Thanks in advance.

Please request any extra info you need.

I'm sorry but we can't support people using ebuilds other than those provide in
the main portage repository. Gentopia and BMG have their own Bugzilla's, and we
don't support your own ebuilds or CVS software.
