is the resulf of emerge -uD xorg-x11 with an ati radeon 7000 VE card. It further
states: The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.
Please instruct me on how to obtain preprocessed source or any additional info
you might need

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -uD world
2.starts to emerge xorg-x11-6.8.2-r4
3.stops with the above error listed in "Details"

Actual Results:  
It failed with the above message. I used lspci to obtain name of video card. I
am using gentoo with uname -a resulting in Linux www 2.6.12-gentoo-r6 #1 Sat Aug
6 12:53:22 EST 2005 i686 AMD Athlon(TM) XP2100+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
and gcc-3.3.6.

Expected Results:  
updated xorg-x11.

Most likely you ran out of memory or your hardware is broken (bad ram,
overheating box,...).

Take a look through the bug I've marked this as a duplicate of. 

If you can re-produce the problem in the *exact* same place let us know and
we'll happily look into your issue further.

In response to some e-mails I'll clarify:

An internal compiler error generally indicates hardware fault, which is usually
confirmed by the error happening in different places, ie, different source files
failing.  In this case it was Prefs.c . I want you to check to see if it failed
on a different source file.

I believe you also mentioned that setting 'minimal' fixed it - this could be a
fix for a number of reasons, most of them not changing my current evaluation of
the situation.
