Bug 106833

Summary: sound-juicer should incorporate the mp3 USE-flag
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Tim Adelt <reptile>
Component: [OLD] GNOMEAssignee: Gentoo Linux Gnome Desktop Team <gnome>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: minor
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Tim Adelt 2005-09-21 14:05:14 UTC
sound-juicer (either version 2.10.x and 2.12.x) does not support mp3 encoding by
default. but it supports mp3 encoding when gst-plugins-lame is installed and a
custom rule in the sound-juicer preferences -> edit profiles has been created.
so please add a 'mp3' USE-flag by default that depends on gst-plugins-lame, and
include a sensible preset, such as
" audio/x-raw-int,rate=44100,channels=2 ! lame name=enc quality=0 bitrate=192"

(CBR works, at least for me - the gnome bug
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=171889 only applies to VBR afaik).

thanks in advance!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge sound-juicer with 'mp3' in USE-flags
2. try to encode cds to mp3

Actual Results:
no mp3 option given

Expected Results:
mp3 option given (as a lot of stand alone players, cell phones etc. don't
support mp3 encoded audio)
