the second link above, demonstrating normal titlebars, should be: http://home.comcast.net/~phibby/desktop2.png Did this happen under r3? I'm assuming it did not happen under r2... honestly i don't know. i ran -r3 for only a week or two, i.e. it went stable and then got pulled out both very recently. i ran -r2 for a long time. i don't know if this problem existed under -r2, since i so rarely use plain X. the reason i used it today was because xterm 204 (which came out today as stable) did not work under XFCE 4.2, so i tried it under plain X. I noticed this titlebar problem while checking out that xterm 204 (which btw does not run under XFCE 4.2, but does under plain X, but that's another story). Hmm...if you could give 6.8.99.15 a try it'd be appreciated. This might be a locale problem in general with X. even if it fixed the problem, i wouldn't run those dev snapshots of X11R7. i am running x86 here whereever possible. i don't see the problem under XFCE4.2, my regular desktop. curious to know if this problem is reproducible by anyone. testing is very easy. just set LC_ALL to a utf8 locale and look at the titlebars. I didn't intend for you to use it permanently. It just tells us if the problem has been fixed in upcoming versions of X or not. I haven't been able to reproduce this on modular X. Maybe I will take it to the forums for confirmation from someone who is running the stable version 6.8.2-r4. If I get confirmation, I'll consider quickpkg'ing my X installation and then trying the monolithic version 6.8.99.15-r2. I don't want involved with modular quite yet, although I am looking forward to it. Alright. Please re-open this bug when you have further information :) Thanks. Looks like it might be a configuration issue on your part, but I'm sure you thought of that :) Let us know how it turns out. |
