Description S. Lorsbach 2005-09-02 17:16:49 UTC
When my kernel 2.6.13 is active and i'm inserting my wireless card (netgear
wg511) in the pcmcia slot the system hangs. It still hangs when i reboot and the
card is in the pcmcia slot. Then the kernel hangs befor probing for
ide-interfaces (i think). There are no error messages in any log file and the
Magic-SysReqKey won't work. I compiled pcmcia as kernel-module and in kernel -
same result. I think it's an error in the pcmcia implementation, because i read
in the kernel-changelog that there was much changed - or?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. insert wireless card
2. turn on pc and boot with 2.6.13 kernel

Actual Results:
The system hangs without any error message.

This is from my 2.6.11 kernel-boot-log, because 2.6.13 hangs, with my wireless card

Are you using the in-kernel prism54 driver - or the external modules from
net-wireless/prism54? Are you using pcmcia-cs or pcmciautils?

Please attach the output of `emerge --info` as asked in the bug submission form.
Comment 2 Henrik Brix Andersen 2005-09-03 02:24:36 UTC
Oh, nevermind the pcmcia-cs/pcmciautils question - it seems you prism54 card is
a CardBus card, not a PCMCIA card.

Comment 4 S. Lorsbach 2005-09-03 03:56:54 UTC
I'm using the in-kernel prism54 driver and yes it's a cardbus card.
Comment 5 Henrik Brix Andersen 2005-09-06 13:18:22 UTC
Does this happen only with linux-2.6.13 - or can you reproduce it using
linux-2.6.12.x?
Comment 6 S. Lorsbach 2005-09-06 14:11:59 UTC
It happens only when I use a 2.6.13 kernel.
There is no problem with a 2.6.12-r10 kernel.
Comment 7 Henrik Brix Andersen 2005-09-06 14:25:41 UTC
Please report this upstream at http://bugzilla.kernel.org and paste the bug
number here.
