gnumeric brings along the program ssindex that can be used with beagle. It would
be nice to have a USE flag to enable the building of ssindex (it isn't by default)

I know beagle isnot in the main tree right now but hopefully will be soon.

--enable-ssindex

would be nice to have a local USE flag for this
