Description Colonel Paneek 2005-08-27 06:41:24 UTC
Jam is a software build tool. It is a reasonable alternative to GNU make,
especially for C or C++ projects. This documentation has a cookbook approach to
describing the use of Jam in standard C++ projects.

This guide is indented to be an introduction to Jam as a make alternative. It
does not attempt to duplicate the documentation available from Perforce.

Well, I'm not sure how is it related to Gentoo...

BTW, I'd suggest you reading http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xml-guide.xml ,
especially coding style section.
Comment 4 Łukasz Damentko (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-20 14:02:37 UTC
It's not just about publishing the guide at gentoo.org, we (GDP) will also have
to keep it current, fix when users report that it's broken and generally take
care about it. We talked a bit about it and it's really interesting doc, still,
we don't see it as one of ours. Please notice that it isn't really related to
Gentoo - just like Jan wrote before. Our suggestion is to post it at forums,
just like many guides were posted before.
Comment 5 Colonel Paneek 2005-09-20 20:01:58 UTC
I agree that it isn't Gentoo specific. I'm quite happy to maintain it. A recent
version of the document was checked by Perforce and a couple of typos and one
technical error were found. If the coding style is the only issue stopping
Gentoo from adopting the document then I will rework it to suit.
Comment 6 Xavier Neys (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-21 11:55:40 UTC
It would be much appreciated if you could improve the xml coding style.

GDP will not actively maintain it, so if we start getting too many bugs about it
and nobody can't do anything about it, it'll be removed. Just letting you know.

Ok, good point, neysx.

Colonel Paneek:
You fix the code, i commit the guide.

No input, no guide at gentoo.org.
