Our non-english speeking friend from Italy already filed a bug report:
Bugzilla Bug 103864 

But somebody made some smug, rude remarks about his reporting. Wonderful!

I'm not so easily put off. You tell me what info you need to resolve it and I
will get it.

First off I don't have splashutils installed and I don't need them. 

The problem is that only half the binaries that are needed for gdm to work
properly were created from the emerge available today. Yes I got a current
version before writing this and my gdm.conf file is from today's compile.

The problem is that the following are not created in the compile:
gdm-binary
gdmchooser
gdmgreeter
gdmlogin
gdmsetup

And please, please don't make the update a silent one because those are such a
waste of time because if you've already updated and not logged out then you're
sunk anyhow. If the update is normal at least it will be corrected after the
next update without 35,000 people wondering what happened.

Please, be so kind and stop filing deliberate duplicate bugs. 

The other bug is still open and in fact has been never closed, so clarify there.
The only remark I've made there was that the bug was filed under incorrect
product and thus got incorrectly assigned, don't see what's rude about that.
