It seems like you've emerged gnome-menus-2.11.x. Mixing stable with unstable packages will often cause problems, as you see here. Thanks for taking the time to report these problems. We appreciate the feedback from users who test the hardmasked packages. However, please note that issues like this will come up while we're still committing ebuilds for the complete set of GNOME-2.12 packages. Spotting the cause of problems can be tricky, and I don't want you to refrain from posting bugs if you do come across problems while testing new ebuilds. For now all we can do is ask you to be patient and wait for new versions of gnome-panel, and of course the rest of gnome. Thanks for the response. I'll await the new gnome-panel with baited breath :) Glad these bug reports are helpful-- I wasn't sure if this fell in the "oh, I'm glad you reported that" category of the "duh, we know, we know. It's unstable for a reason" one I guess it's a bit of both. So as I continue to use these hardmasked packages, I'll continue to post any bugs or problems I find... W Just wanted to add a quick note regarding the previous comments. Reporting problems such as this particular one is not really useful. These involve conflicts between stable and hard-masked packages. They are expected to happen, and should not be filed as bugs unless the reporter is certain that the problem is reproducible using a reasonable setup, e.g. unmasked packages only. Apart from that, we're glad to receive good feedback regarding masked packages. See for example bug #102854. |
