Description Dan Girellini 2005-08-12 19:21:52 UTC
Though some streams work, most streams I try to play with xmms don't work at
all. Instead, xmms hangs with the message "Conecting to ....." in its display
meanwhile chewing up 100% cpu.

If I build xmms from the source from xmms.org it works fine on all streams.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. xmms http://64.236.34.67:80/stream/2001

I see this from time to time as well.
After reemerging xmms-mpg123 it worked for some time, but then stopped working
again.
Comment 2 Dan Girellini 2005-08-30 01:04:01 UTC
Remerging mpg123 has no noticeable effect for me whatsoever.
Comment 3 Bharath Ramesh 2005-10-06 07:26:38 UTC
I am seeing the same problem. If it does play any stream it plays for 2-3 secs
and then hangs and chewing 100% cpu. Re-emerging xmms-mpg123 has no effect
whatsoever. Upstream version of xmms doesnt have that problem.
Comment 4 Bharath Ramesh 2005-10-10 21:01:12 UTC
Not sure if this is helpfull but I see the following message fill up whenever I
try to use xmms to play any streaming urls.

** WARNING **:: ctrl_write_packet (): Failed to send data: Bad file descriptor

The console is full of this messages till i stop xmms from connectiong to the
streaming url.
Comment 5 Bharath Ramesh 2005-10-15 13:07:52 UTC
Disabling the mad plugin allows streaming to work. Seems like a problem with mad
plugin.
