I have seen these error lines with a lot of applications and looking at the
*.ent files the value is x.... instead X....

I'm not familiar with this stuff and don't know if this is a Gentoo bug, a jade
bug or another incompatibility.
Comment 1 Leonardo Boshell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-10 06:06:26 UTC
Are those errors coming from emerge or arbitrary applications?

If it's a third party app, the problem might be that it's calling openjade (or
its wrapper jw) without passing /usr/share/sgml/xml.dcl.

I played with a local ebuild, but this is an old problem with different
applications, see e.g. Bug 56817. I'm sure there are more apps with this issue,
though.

As I said, I'm not familiar with it, but the necessary dtd catalogs (including
xml.dcl) are used.

Well, at this point this is not very useful as a bug :).

Please attach the ebuild and tell us what applications show the problem and how
to reproduce it so we can study it.

See hal-0.5.5.1-r1 for the breakage...

Actually, bug #116350 seems like a dup of #117838. The original error comes in the line:

error connecting to "www.oasis-open.org" (Connection timed out)

Which then causes the whole build to fail.
