This definitely looks like an X problem, but could even be a kernel/bios issue or even hardware problem... it's really difficult to tell. Does the keyboard stop working too? Does it happen in window managers outside kde? What video drivers do you use? Have you tried something different? Is it consistently reproducible? Everything stops working, even the keyboard, but mouse moves. I don't think it happens outside of the, I might be wrong though. Because the only other WM that I used is twm and that was only for a few minutes at a time to setup my keyboard. The driveres are nvidia (propertiay). THe problem might be with the patch that I used for my keyboard?? It was made by one of you gentoo devs to map keys over keycode 255. When I was using the laptop at work without the usb keyboard attached I couldn't get the bug. Also when I came home in the evening I didn't notice it. I'll let you know if it come on again. If you're using a special patch from outside the tree and that's causing the crashes we can't support that, regardless of who made it. In your case it might be impossible to confirm that the freeze happens without the patch, but you may be able to find others with the same problem by Googling the problem. I'm going to mark this invalid until there's evidence that it's a Gentoo problem. Please re-open this bug if you come across such evidence :) |
