Bug 101094 – ntp multicast client is not working correctly

I tried to play around with ntpd and multicast client settings.
What I found is the following:

The ntpd initially does nothing. When it receives the first multicast packet it does what it is supposed 
to, starts syncing with the sender of the packet. After this has happened for each multicast packet 
sent,I see a poll of the multicast sender

ntpdc -s tells me it is synced to the sender with local address set to the machine instead of 224.0.1.1
I used ntpd -m -b -A -c none as well as a ntp.conf with a multicastclient entry.
The same settings work on OSX, Solaris8 and a RedHat machine 

Package is the current ntp-4.2.0.20040617-r2

I use ipv6 which might be the only relevant of the items I found in IUSE

try the other versions of ntp in portage starting with 4.2.0.20050303

what is the order anyway? 20050303 and then -r2 or is 20050303 the newest?

last i checked 20050303 > 20040617

I updated to 20050303 still does not work TCPDump shows:

10:06:55.300424 IP 10.1.1.5.123 > 10.1.1.1.123: NTPv4 client, strat 0, poll 6, prec -20
10:06:55.300561 IP 10.1.1.1.123 > 10.1.1.5.123: NTPv4 server, strat 4, poll 6, prec -20
 in a repeating pattern

ntpdc -s shows

     remote           local      st poll reach  delay   offset    disp
===============================================================
========
*crom.netage.de  10.1.1.5         4   64   77 0.00027 -0.005249 0.66238

On the other systems the local entry is 224.0.1.1
