The Quick Install Guide has the following,

kernel /kernel-2.6.11-gentoo-r3 root=/dev/ram0 ...
initrd /initrd-2.6.11-gentoo-r3

but what you really want with the latest genkernel (3.3.1) is

kernel /kernel-genkernel-x86-2.6.11-gentoo-r3 root=/dev/ram0 ...
initrd /initramfs-genkernel-x86-2.6.11-gentoo-r3
