Description Björn Michaelsen 2005-07-26 13:15:30 UTC
HTTPMounter is a tool to mount a remote HTTP server into a local Zope instance
(similar to LocalFS).
Example

Assume a HTTPMounter instance is installed as /foo/members_zope.org and the base
url of the instance is set to http://www.zope.org/Members/.

Fetching http://host:port/foo/members_zope.org/ajung/TextIndexNG/ will fetch the
document from http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/

This seems to be a very stable, low maintenance zope-product. Last release is
from 2002-10-05 08:21:06.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.

Before we put this package into portage, we need more info from users, that this
package is really wanted/usefull/needed. Without such votes, we can'not put it
in, because of increasing workload on net-zope devs to support small/seldom use
package.

PLease consider using portage overlays (PORTDIR_OVERLAY in /etc/make.conf) and
use package personally.

Essentially this is a reverse proxy in Zope. You can transparently display a
remote site/page inside an Zope site.
Actually Im not using it anymore, and most other people wont need it, because
most people have a Apache with Mod_Rewrite in front of the Zope instance or some
equivalent, to feed the VirtualHostingMonster.
I just provided the ebuild because the package works just fine - And its age
might actually be a argument for its stability.

Anyway I dont use it anymore, so I dont care too much when it doesnt get added
to the tree.
