That's not something a dev can work with. show us the error output and reopen
How about simply trying to emerge it yourself? I can reproduce it on several machines so it shouldn't be too hard for you either. Whoever is going to fix this will have to reproduce it on his/her own anyway. How about you provide the information we need to be able todo something with this bug report? so you don't just waste your and our time? It compiles just fine for me with sun-jdk Created attachment 64148 [details]

In contrast to my first statement sun-jdk-1.4.2.08 *does* compile it, too: java version "1.4.2_08" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_08-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_08-b03, mixed mode) I must have forgotten to update my environment. Anyway, now you have a reason and enough evidence, I hope, to waste your time. *** Bug 102625 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Reopen wrt duplicate bug. sun-j2sdk and sun-jdk 1.5 are not supported use sun-jdk or blackdown-jdk Thomas, I'm afraid you confused some words... ;-) Your sentence should obviously read: sun-j2sdk and sun-jdk 1.5 are NEEDED by many. Thus, long after Java 5.0 has been released, "unsupported" is not really an acceptable answer. (In reply to comment #10) > Thomas, I'm afraid you confused some words... ;-) He did not. > > Your sentence should obviously read: sun-j2sdk and sun-jdk 1.5 are NEEDED by many. It can be used as the user vm. System vm has problems. We already have a working a solution which will hopefully be moved to the official tree soon. > > Thus, long after Java 5.0 has been released, "unsupported" is not really an > acceptable answer. No, it is not but we the java herd is understaffed. sun-jdk-1.5 is supported if you use this overlay: http://gentooexperimental.org/svn/java/axxo-overlay/ (be carefull big changes) in the normal tree it is not dev-java/sun-j2sdk vm he was using is no longer in portage and buggy and not supported by us. so use dev-java/sun-jdk or some other vm in our tree |
