Using `pwd` in configure.ac is invalid syntax/semantic for autoconfig according to SpanKY (Comment 1).

I'm not sure. Documentation is not clear in my opinion, but this is not worth spending any time on.
Simply correct it in configure.ac so we don't have to worry about the bogus `pwd` directory that gets created.
