I noticed that [the all powerful] emerge nicely changes gnome-terminal titles with the current status of the emerge - a great feature. However when emerge is stopped and continued, the title is 'lost'. Perhaps emerge could catch SIGCONT and reprint the title? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start emerge (eg, `emerge -uD world`) 2. notice title (emerge : (1 of 11) ...) 3. send SIGSTOP (eg ctrl-z) 4. send SIGCONT (eg, `fg`) Actual Results: title is now default terminal title Expected Results: title changes back to "emerge : (1 of 11) ..." or whatever the current status of emerge is. $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.11-gentoo-r11 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r11 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.10 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks nostrip sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://mirror.pacific.net.au/linux/Gentoo http://mirror.gentoo.gr.jp ftp://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo" LANG="en_AU" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X acpi alsa apache2 arts avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr crypt cups curl directfb dvd dvdr eds emboss encode esd fam flac font-server foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gnome gpm gs gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile imagemagick imlib ipv6 irda java jpeg junit libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmx motif mozsvg mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nfs nls ogg oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl php png postgres ppds python quicktime readline samba sdl spell sse ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts vorbis wifi win32codecs xml xml2 xmms xv zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
Putting a hold on feature requests for portage as they are drowning out the bugs. Most of these features should be available in the next major version of portage. But for the time being, they are just drowning out the major bugs and delaying the next version's progress. Any bugs that contain patches and any bugs for etc-update or dispatch-conf can be reopened. Sorry, I'm just not good enough with bugzilla. ;)
Reopening for consideration.
