Can you provide the output from "printenv | sort | ansifilter"? If you have the environment variables _OS_SH or _OS set, I think they will override this detection.

Thank you very much, that fixed it. I used a different shell with the bare minimum ENV and the package emerged successfully.
I'm moving this back to open as I'm submitting a PR to no longer listen for this variable, you can already override the detection by setting _OS, but I think just plain OS is such a common variable it's just asking for trouble.
