Description Brett I. Holcomb 2005-03-05 12:11:47 UTC
I installed partimage on my server and started it up with -d /files/Images option. I am using 0.6.4-r2 of partimage.

The client was booted using sysrecu-cd. When I did

partimagessl -Uuser -Ppassword save /dev/sda1 dirname/filename

or any variation of this I get a the error about incompatible networking login options. If I use -L on the partimaged server and partimagessl on the rescue CD it all works.

I then booted off the livecd (2004.3) but it doesn't have partimage on it.

This is not a really good solution for long term. What can be done to fix this?

sysrescuecd has partimage compiled without ssl and login options ...so you have to ask to authors to change this behaviour.
On the other hand I can ask to add partimage to the livecd.

the big problem with the actual version of partimage is that some options are hardcoded, so you cannot change all at runtime.

They provide both partimage and partimagessl which has ssl - I used the ssl one but as you said evidently they don't compile in the login part while Gentoo does.

Yes, a LiveCD with it would be wonderful. In fact I tried the latest full CD and was very surprised it wasn't on there. I would have thought that since the Live CD is not only an install system but a rescue CD now it would have been there. I never use Knoppix anymore.
