Hi, I am using an laptop Acer Aspire 1500 64 bits Athlon. I am trying to install the Gentoo 64 bits with this livecd : install-amd64-universal-2004.3-r1 I have to use the tg3 drivers for my Broadband NIC. Network does not work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Booting with livecd 2. Going into lib64/modules/2.6.9-gentoo-r1/kernel/net 3. modprobe tg3 4. FATAL: Module tg3.ko not found. 5. insmod tg3.ko 6. lsmod -> tg3 (ok) 7. running net-setup eth0 8. after running step 7 -> SIOCSIFFLAGS: Function not implemented SIOCADDRT: Network unreachable. 9. ifconfig -a -> i can see eth0, lo and sit0 10. do the same configuration manually, same problem. Actual Results: I am using an laptop Acer Aspire 1500 64 bits Athlon. I am trying to install the Gentoo 64 bits with this livecd : install-amd64-universal-2004.3-r1 I have to use the tg3 drivers for my Broadband NIC. In lib64/modules/2.6.9-gentoo-r1/kernel/net when i do an "modprobe tg3" i have this error : FATAL: Module tg3.ko not found. When i try to do an "insmod tg3.ko" it is working, i can see that my NIC is correctly detected on eth0 (dmesg). After, when i am doing an "net-setup eth0" at the end (IP fixe), i have : SIOCSIFFLAGS: Function not implemented SIOCADDRT: Network unreachable. If i check in the file net.eth0, i can see the default configuration without any of my new data, i mean ip, dns, gw etc ... If i am doing an "ifconfig -a" i can see eth0, lo and sit0. With manual config ... same problem. Thx Expected Results: Network working tg3 is perfectly working on Debian testing / kernel 2.6.6
tg3 working with 2004.0.
i can't confirm that, did you try 2005.0? does it work there?
