On ppc, sparc and alpha arch mplayer can link with realplayer8 shared libraries if media-video/realplayer has been installed on the system (instead of using win32 dlls in case of x86 arch).
media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre6.ebuild has been modified to support this feature by testing /opt/RealPlayer8/Codecs presence.

You shouldn't have realplayer 8 installed at all, it's full of unfixed security vulnerabilties and masked therefore. -> Bug 40469
