I was installing and had an IO error when I tried to decompress stage1 from the livecd. I had other issues as well, but this cd has been burned on a shining new media at 4x speed just to be sure.
Workaround: downloaded the stage from the internet.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.try to decompress stage1 per installation instructions

Actual Results:  
Input/Output error

Expected Results:  
stage1 should have been happily read from livecd and decompressed

Motheboard: MSI K8N Neo Platinum
Athlon 64 3000
1GB DDR 400 RAM
4 x 200GB SATA HDs on RAID

filesystem: reiserfs (not reiser4)

DVD drive: LG 4160B

Well, it seems to work for everyone else, so I would suspect either your media or your drive.  There's no way we could possibly resolve this, so I am marking as CANTFIX.
