Description Nicholas Ruddick 2005-01-24 05:41:13 UTC
When I try to contact anywhere on the network with kernel 2.6.10-r6 and acpi with the via-rhine driver (compiled into the kernel) I get no reponse. ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.5 up does seem to bring the device up. lspci lists the controller but /proc/interrupts does not.

When I run the kernel with acpi=off parameters then the ethernet controller works fine. This has been mentioned in the gentoo forums and information suggests this may be affected from 2.6.9 kernel upwards.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Compile the 2.6.10-r6 kernel with via-rhine and ACPI.
2.Reboot onto it, bring up the ethernet device.
3.Try to connect to anything on the network and no joy.

Actual Results:
Ping returns destination unreachable. Dhcpcd cannot contact dhcp server.

Expected Results:
Ping should return packets. Dhcpcd should get an IP off the dhcp server.
