iputils-ping now checks ICMP echo reply payload field from byte 17 onwards (regardless of the size of the reply) and filters out all packets which do not match exactly, thus exluding them from statistics reporting, byte-wise payload comparison, truncation-checking/reporting, checksum-checking/reporting, etc.
