The icecast project has two seperate ices projects, ices0 and ices (or ices2). These programs have different functionality: ices0 streams mp3 to icescast 1.x and 2.x servers and ices(2) streams ogg to icecast2.x servers. In the past ices-0.4 was an ebuild in the net-misc/ices package and was treated as an earlier version of ices, but currently it's gone. This means that there is no ebuild for the ices0 in portage. Is this on purpose, or was this a misunderstanding with the ebuild maker? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Looks like a mission for SLOTs to me...
This is not a job for SLOT because they are _different_ programs. The might be alike and the funtionality might converge in the future, but currently they are two seperate programs. See the discussion on debian bugs: http://lists.debian.org/debian-wnpp/2003/07/msg00515.html Should I post an ebuild for ices0?
please do
I now longer use ices0, so I might not be the correct person to take this on.
Feel free to submit ebuilds for this. Meanwhile, marking LATER.
how long we have to wait for this ebuild? what reason exactly was to remove it?
(In reply to comment #6) > how long we have to wait for this ebuild? what reason exactly was to remove it? There is another bug opened about ices0: http://bugs.gentoo.org/157898 You'll also find the URL to grab the old ebuild there.
