Description Magnus Ahlberg 2004-12-23 09:28:03 UTC
When I try to emerge blackdown. It doesn't even try to download any files. Emerge just gives me an error message and shuts down.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge dev-java/blackdown-jre-1.4.2.01
2.
3.

Actual Results:
# emerge blackdown-jre
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-java/blackdown-jre-1.4.2.01 to /
>>> Unpacking source...
* Failed to get offset of tarball!

Expected Results:
Downloaded the file and emerged blackdown-jre 1.4.2.01 without errors.

I'm having this very problem with blackdown-jar-1.4.2.01-r1. This bug was opened last December, but it's now April, and I'm having the problem again. I've re-synced and tried again (before I got here, actually). It didn't work. What causes this?
Comment 5 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-04 12:21:14 UTC
Having the same problem with -r1 and can't find any CVS log entry for 1.4.2.01
of 2004-12-23 - what's happening here?
Comment 6 Thomas Matthijs (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-10 11:24:03 UTC
lets see some 'emerge info' from ppl still having this problem
and the env vars you have, and the exact ebuild you tried with
and version of tar/bzip
