*  net-misc/vnc [ Masked ]
      Latest version available: 3.3.3-r3
      Latest version installed: 3.3.3-r3
      Homepage: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/index.html
Description: A remote display system which allows you to view a computing
'desktop' environment from anywhere.

testing this i have found that there is no java client. i am not sure if this is
the desired behavior. the java client can be installed seperately from this
binary install, but there is no ebuild for it. upshot: it seems that either the
java client should be included, or an ebuild should be made for it.

also, the native client does not appear to work correctly either. the mouse
cursor does not show up, the fonts are not displayed correctly, and the widgets
are messed up (only tested gtk, but i assume its just a general redering issue).

thats the native vnc client with an xterm open.

not sure if the java client produces correct results. will test that later.

right brady, I've added some stuff to the r3 ebuild which should install the
java bits now. unfortunately, I had to use Mandrake's java binary stuff, coz
the java source is sooooo old and deprecated (and some may say, decrepit) that
it does not even compile on modern java compilers. please test and report.

well, it's in portage and masked...

unless we can get some java programming gurus to update the java source, that's
the best we can do, I'm afraid. prefer tightvnc to vnc anyway, from what I hear.
